MEET THE TEAM: Robin Baudreau | Executive Producer

Robin is originally from Massachusetts, she moved to NYC on a whim 4 years ago and it turned out to be a pretty good decision. Her favorite food is buffalo wings and she hates bananas. Nicknames at the office include: Bob, Boberino, Bobby Robertson, Arby’s, and Rino (pronounced REE-NO.)

What is your role at Kworq? How long have you worked here?

Executive Producer. It will be 3 years April 1st!

Where were you photographed? Why was that your choice?

Popeye’s. Mostly as a joke cause I love Popeyes I thought it would be hilarious. We told everyone to dress nicely for their pictures so I really thought it would be epic to wear like, a ball gown in the middle of Popeyes…but I don’t own a ball gown.

Why did you want to work at Kworq?

I was just starting to get into production and wanted to work somewhere cool. I really admired the quality of work that they produced and loved the no-bullshit interview I initially had.

Why did you get into Advertising?

Accidentally? I do love a good brand, and I love believing in a good brand. I’m an observer and I love the psychology behind why people buy, what makes people buy, what makes a successful company etc. I think that a genuinely good brand has the power to shape our culture (come to think of it a genuinely bad brand does too…) and I like thinking about how I can be part of something that can shape culture.

What is your favorite part about working in advertising?

Collaborating with a really great client and generally getting to work with creative people who are different than myself. We work all along the spectrum of clients – big, small, startups. I love seeing how different businesses work across industries and size.

What is your least favorite part about working in advertising?

I don’t love being tied to a product. I’ve always been a storyteller and sometimes it feels counterintuitive to have that ulterior motive to sell something. But ultimately, one of the great things I love about Kworq is that we don’t just make pretty things or superficial stories – we genuinely like creating content that resonates for clients we like 🙂

What’s the hardest part about what you do?

I have a lot of answers for this one…but I think prioritizing things is really hard for me. We’re a small agency and even though I’m EP I’m also wearing a million other hats at once. I’m working on prioritizing those that are most important, getting those done first, and moving on to the small stuff. It’s just that even the small stuff feels like a priority.  It’s also been a real struggle for me not to take things so personally – dealing with clients, staff, different personalities and creatives…it can be a challenge.

Where do you want to be in five years?

In the perfect world, I would still be working at Kworq helping to run our incredibly successful original content studio with Cassie Lavo while producing and writing other projects around the globe with other incredibly successful people who love what they do.

What’s your greatest inspiration for what you do?

Scripted television and pop culture/social commentary. I’m a huge TV nerd, I’m also hyper aware of the world around me since 2016 so our political and social climate are huge inspirations for the type of work I want to do.

What was the last thing you watched that you really liked? Why?

So many things…but I’m a huge fan of SMILF on Showtime. HUGE FAN.

How do you keep the creative juices flowing outside of Kworq?

I write constantly, I attend a lot of tv-centered events, I’m always watching the newest series. I’m soon launching an online “zine” (it’s not really a zine but I hate the word blog and it’s not a blog) called Alone and Going Nowhere and I’m currently writing a fictional podcast I hope to launch later this year! KEEP YO EYES PEELED!
