A LITTLE BIT ABOUT MEGHAN: Originally from Maryland but started planning her move to NYC at 10-years-old. Like a true Taurus, Meghan is passionate about good (vegetarian) food & fancy wine, takes outfit inspiration from Elton John, and always puts disco in the queue.
What’s your role at Kworq? How long have you been here?
I’m a social media assistant and I’ve been here for about 8 months now!
What attracted you to this role at Kworq vs any other agency?
The variety of clients Kworq worked with was exciting to me. In the past I’d worked in industries that I didn’t really enjoy. I find it a lot easier to get things done when you’re a fan of the client you’re working for. Also, yellow is my favorite color.
Where is your portrait taken? Why this place? What’s the significance?
The Brooklyn Bridge Park! The views of the city are really good & I love to people-watch here.
Why’d you choose to go into the Advertising and Marketing industry?
I genuinely don’t know how I ended up here, I changed my major so many times in college! I have a lot of interests and I think the Advertising and Marketing industry is a place where you can exercise lots of different skills and work with clients in so many different industries.
What’s the coolest part about working in advertising?
Working with a lot of people who have totally different skills and seeing the cool things they make.
What’s the uncoolest part about working advertising?
Seeing your ads every time you open the Facebook app.
What’s an unexpected perk of working at an agency like Kworq in this industry?
Working at a smaller agency like Kworq gives you the opportunity to learn a lot of new skills. Everyone has a chance to be hands-on with most clients and encouraged to speak up when they want to learn something new.
What are some challenges of the business?
The ever-changing trends & best practices. It keeps the job interesting but there is always something new to keep up with or learn about!
What’s something new you learned since working at Kworq? Doesn’t have to be work related. Could be silly, informative, fun, useful, a life skill, etc.
The importance of color-coding.
What’s life look like for you in 5 years? Screw reality, what’s the “if I won the lottery” answer?
Real answer: Who knows, probably still living in New York City & hopefully in an apartment building with an elevator. If I won the lottery answer: I’d move to Italy and work at a bakery. Or, I’d spend all of my money stalking Harry Styles.
What inspires you in your work?
Every one of my friends is extremely creative and always doing something cool. Seeing what they’re working on is really inspiring to me.
How do you stay creative outside of the Kworq offices?
I spend a lot of my free time painting. I minored in Fine Arts in college and spent some time studying at a little art school in Italy, so it’s super important to me!
