A LITTLE BIT ABOUT CAM: I’m from Connecticut, grew up playing hockey and skiing all over the north east as much as possible. Every summer my family heads out to Nantucket island off of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, which I now consider my home-away-from-home. When I was in high school I was part of an EMT program where I responded to hundreds of emergency calls, driving an ambulance or caring for patients. I always had a good feeling that I’d end up in New York since there’s no city like it and my three older siblings lived here.

What is your role at Kworq? How long have you worked here?

Social Media Strategist. I have been at Kworq for a little less than 3 months!

Where were you photographed? Why was that your choice?

I chose to be photographed at Washington Square Arch because I had actually never been there and it looked like a really iconic part of NYC. I am currently commuting from Connecticut so I haven’t had the chance yet to really immerse myself in the city. This seemed like the perfect opportunity to cross this spot off of my list of places to visit. I’m sure that once I actually move into New York I’ll laugh at myself for choosing a super touristy area though!

Why did you want to work at Kworq?

I graduated college in May 2019 and was looking for a fast-paced, high growth, and super collaborative company. I was looking for an opportunity to get a feel for a wide array of tasks & assignments, which is exactly what Kworq is about. Everyone here at Kworq wears a lot of different hats and is involved with nearly every client and project. This dynamic enables us all to work closely together and maintain an underlying passion for the work that we get to do. The people at Kworq, the clients we work with, and the office location are all added bonuses as well!

What led you to get into the advertising industry?

I studied marketing and interactive media studies and had taken a lot of classes in digital marketing. I’ve always been amazed by the power of the internet and the ability to connect with each other instantaneously. This new form of online communicating has revolutionized the ability for companies to reach millions of people while leveraging different branding and marketing tactics to achieve incredible results. It’s really cool to me how advertising platforms allow us to target products and services that people all around the world can use to benefit their lives.

What is your favorite part about working in advertising?

I really appreciate the multifaceted aspect of the work that some industries don’t have the privilege of experiencing. People from many different career backgrounds can assemble to create powerful campaigns. It’s highly creative. There’s hardly ever wrong answers. It’s all about testing and experimenting to drive the best results and engagement.

What is your least favorite part about working in advertising?

The expectation to always drive financial return on investment for every campaign can be difficult to satisfy. Sometimes we can take all of the right steps and planning to ensure a solid return on ad spend, but there are so many factors and variables that can’t be accounted for that can lead to poor results. I try to see these instances as learning experiences, but it can be tough to not hold myself accountable if a campaign underperforms.

What’s the hardest part about what you do?

Keeping track of all of our clients’ social campaigns and ensuring that they are all optimized to drive the best results. It is very easy to get tunnel vision on certain campaigns and start to lose attention on other ongoing ads.

Where do you want to be in five years?

Hopefully still in New York working in marketing and having the opportunity to travel more!

What’s your greatest inspiration for what you do?

Seeing what my friends, family, and co-workers are able to accomplish in their careers definitely drives me to work hard and sharpen my toolkit everyday.

What was the last thing you watched that you really liked? Why?

This is one of my favorite skiers to watch. He’s insanely creative and I’ve never seen anything like this before.

How do you keep the creative juices flowing outside of Kworq?

I run an Etsy store with my sister called Nantucket Print Shop where we sell framed prints of our landscape photography. It’s a super fulfilling side hustle that I’m really passionate about.
