A LITTLE BIT ABOUT CHRISTINA: Texan turned New Yorker turned Californian turned Aussie turned Alaskan hippie turned San Diegan turned New Yorker again. Bridget Bardot’s waist. Julia Child’s cooking skills. Kermit the Frog’s singing voice. I’ve never met a floof I didn’t like.

What’s your role at Kworq? How long have you been here?

Senior Project Manager/design team big sis. Been here a year and a half!

What attracted you to this role at Kworq vs any other agency?

I had worked at a small agency before, then a large agency and yearned to return to a small agency. Kworq had an edge/sass that I personally identify with. They also let me geek out on organization here [smiles].

Where is your portrait taken? Why this place? What’s the significance?

At the office, because I never stop working.

Why’d you choose to go into the Advertising and Marketing industry?

Lucked into it, to be honest. Started out as a copyeditor, then the recession hit and people stopped caring about grammar. I shifted to office management, and ended up at a design agency where I had the opportunity to assist one of the lead project managers and found it was truly my calling. It helps that I’m a bit of a design nerd… I just can’t create (but I can appreciate!).

What’s the coolest part about working in advertising?

Nerding out on beautiful brand identities with fellow nerds.

What’s the uncoolest part about working advertising?

When people think beautiful brand identities only take two hours to create.

What’s an unexpected perk of working at an agency like Kworq in this industry?

The dad jokes. That’s a bit Kworq specific. Agencies like Kworq — you can kind of make a position your own. There’s no rigid/corporate career path, which provides a level of freedom as to where you take yourself and your career as you grow with the agency.

What are some challenges of the business?

Stubborn clients. Not getting creeped out by seeing behind the scenes of how advertising strategy works. The industry as a whole requires a thick skin to really excel. I can never see rain in a movie again without knowing it’s just a metal bar with a hose attached to it.

What’s something new you learned since working at Kworq? Doesn’t have to be work-related. Could be silly, informative, fun, useful, a life skill, etc.

That it wasn’t tree sap on the swings I sat on as a child. It was cicada pee. A client called my entire childhood into question when they told me that factoid.

Oh, and what “stan” means (hint: it’s not an Eminem reference).

What’s life look like for you in 5 years? Screw reality, what’s the “if I won the lottery” answer?

Roadtripping around different continents (Australia’s first) with a floofy dog, just like John Steinbeck.

What inspires you in your work?

My coworkers, honestly. The level of talent and drive in this group of humans is astounding. These people blow me away, so I’m just trying to do right by them!
